So last weekend I helped host a baby shower at our house and was seriously in my element. This was our first shower, with many to come, in our new home & I had way too much fun decorating and prepping! Our friends, Maddie & Brooks, that actually introduced Austin & I, are having a precious baby girl and we were honored to shower them.
The momma, Maddie, is not the girliest girl (aka not a pink fan LOL) so we decided to go for a more neutral theme with eucalyptus and lots of white! As much as it killed me not using pink, I was over the moon how everything turned out. From the charcuterie board, faux floral, cutest cookies & make your own bouquet party favors everything turned out exactly how I envisioned!
I shared behind the scene pictures/videos on my stories and y’all went crazy for the details.
Let’s start with how I built the charcuterie board. For starters, I got the inspo from Marina Mcavoy‘s Instagram highlights and knew this would be the perfect snack food, since the shower was at 1pm.
Note, pretty much everything I used was from Trader Joes and cost me roughly $150. We had 30+ people at the shower and I just replenished the board throughout. It ended up being more than enough!
What I used
-Brown wrapping paper (HomeGoods)
-Scattered cheese boards and dip bowls across the paper to give it some height (you can find inexpensive ones from HomeGoods)
-8 different cheese from Trader Joes
-Snap peas, sliced cucumbers & cherry tomatoes
-Bag of mixed nuts
-Green and purple grapes, strawberries, blackberries & raspberries
-Salami, prosciutto, pepperonis
-Sliced French bread, pita bread fig & olive crackers
-Pickles, stuffed olives, mozzarella balls
-Pimento cheese dip, spinach & artichoke dip, hummus & cucumber dip
-Chicken salad sandwiches on croissants at the end of the board
My advice when creating the board would be to not overthink it. I started with the bowls and boards on the paper and scattered the nuts, fruit and veggies throughout. Then added the bread and crackers. Finished with putting the cheese on the boards, dips in the bowls, and filled any empty holes. It was such a hit and was actually super simple to create!
Now for the other details….
Faux Floral Arrangements
I am a sucker for flowers and floral arrangements, but did not want to spend a fortune. I lucked out and was able to work with Moss Modern Florals! Her arrangements are made with faux flowers and were beyond GORGEOUS. She is just starting out and I could not recommend her enough for showers, weddings, events, etc. We are actually hosting another shower in September and I am using her for that, too!
She created the greenery runners that lined the island behind the charcuterie board, the gorgeous runner that was on our mantle & she did the chalkboard with the floral arrangement in the entry way. She also whipped up a couple other arrangements to put by the party favors and mimosa bar, which were the perfect touch! Be sure to check out her Instagram to see more of her work.
Make Your Own Bouquet Party Favors
I cannot take credit for this idea, as I saw Katey McFarlan do the same thing for a shower she hosted. When I saw her post about it I knew I had to do recreate it for baby Libbie’s shower. It was so simple and everyone loved getting to be creative and make their own arrangement to take home!
Floral Designs and Expressions (she did the flowers for our wedding) helped with the flowers for the bouquets. I told her the colors & greenery I was wanting and she took care of the rest. She is a ROCKSTAR and her work is beautiful!
For the paper, I just snagged this paper from Amazon. I also got a custom stamp made with Elizabeth’s name and stamped each paper ahead of time. It was a cute detail, if you ask me π
I purchased these inexpensive stickers that matched the theme and picked up some brown yarn to tie the bouquets up! Seriously was SO cute.
All in all, it was such a fun day! Maybe in my next life I will throw parties for a living π Feel free to DM me or comment with any other questions!
Thanks for stopping by!
