In college it is a definite must to stay organized [I would seriously go crazy if I was not]. We all have different ways of how we stay organized and what we do to keep balance in our lives. My particular way is to use a Day Designer from Target. You can get these for only $10!! In the past I was known to spend around $50 for the famous Lilly Pulitzer planners, but I have found that I enjoy the Day Designers a lot better & they work just as well. And in the front of these planners there’s a section to write down your long term & short term goals, as well as your day to day schedule. This helped me by writing down all of my thoughts & everything I want to achieve within the next year. I am anxious to see if I stay on track & actually achieve my goals. Today I am going to give you a little insight of what I do to stay organized & how I plan in my Day Designer.
Tips for planning:
1. Get special pens that will be used specifically in your planner. I like to color coordinate my quizzes, tests, homework, special events, work & blog posts by different colors. This helps me know what is what right when I look at it.
2. Set aside 30 minutes & write down everything right when you get the due dates. Whether you’re in school or you work full time, write the dates down right when you receive them. This will help a ton because you will not be stressing out about where you need to be & when the day before.
3. I personally write everything on the monthly calendar as well as the weekly calendars. I write more specific details on the weekly calendar, but the monthly one is better to look at when you are planning things far in advance.
4. Once you write everything down, actually use the planner!! I know so many people who are guilty of this. If you are going to take the time to get organized, then stay organized. It will help with your grades, work & social life.
5. I personally like to highlight important events or due dates, just because it grasps my attention more. So if this helps you, then do it.
6. Every night I make it a habit to make sure I have completed everything on my list, as well as seeing what the next day entails. Just make this a routine before you go to bed… you won’t regret it when you realize you have something the next day that you forgot about.
7. My roommate uses her planner like I do, but she also writes down specific things she did each day. She does this so she can go back & look at the memories she made week by week. Kind of a cool idea, so I thought I would share it with you lovely ladies.
8. The last step I have is to cross off the different things after you have completed them. This will be a huge benefit when you are looking at everythingΒ on your calendar.
These are all my personal tips I use on a day to day basis. I cannot stress how important it is to stay organized. It seriously makes me feel so much better. It will help you gain a sense of achievement when you have lines through all of the things you have completed. Also, it will help you achieve goals that you may have thought were not achievable.
With all this planner talk, I wanted to let you all know if I am MIA this semester it’s because my nose is buried in the books. Seriously though, this semester is so overwhelming… but hey my planner will help π
You can get this Day Designer here.Β They are sold out right now, but I heard that they are getting them back in stock soon.
