So as many of you know, I have recently moved into a house for my last year of college [whoop!]. And with moving comes redecorating & splurging on new things from Hobby Lobby & Home Goods. With that being said, I decided to change my room up & give it a more modern but shabby chic feel.
For my color scheme in my room I stuck with black, white, gold & a hint of turquoise. I was going for a clean, crisp look & I think I achieved just that. Decorating is probably one of my favorite things to do, so I had a ball putting together my bedroom & the rest of the house. Three things I knew I wanted were: a gallery wall, white fluffy duvet, & an over sized mirror. And believe it or not, I found all three of these things for very reasonable prices. If you have read any of my other blogs you know I hate paying a lot for things like room decor, because my taste is constantly changing & I am always wanting to give my room a new feel. The gallery wall is probably my favorite part of my whole room, because it fits my style & taste perfectly. Everything you see on this wall came from Hobby Lobby [shocker I know]. A tip for shopping at Hobby Lobby is never buy anything that is not half off, because they change the sale items every other week… so if it is not half off one week, it will be the next. So just wait it out, girlfriend. It will be worth it, I promise. Now, I found my duvet for a steal from Stein Mart for less than $50 [yes, Stein Mart has a great home decor section so you should def check it out]. And I found the duvet insert from At Home for only $40, this is insanely cheap considering all of the ones from Target & Bed Bath & Beyond are outrageous. The over sized mirror came from Home Goods [aka one of your BFFs during redecorating]. I love the color of the frame, & it is the perfect size for my bedroom. I added a white, rod iron piece above it to even out the decor on this wall. The best part, this mirror was only $50! I repeat: $50. Aka you need it, & need it now.
Moving onto the desk & curtains. I tried to keep it simple, because I did not want my room to be to busy & overwhelming. The curtains are a white lace [which are super easy to upkeep & manage], & I added a blackout curtain behind them [who doesn’t love their room pitch black when they sleep?]. I really, really, really wanted to splurge on some decorative books like the Louis Vuitton & Chanel ones we all see bloggers post… but I just could not bring myself to spend the money on them. So instead I purchased these precious polka dot photo albums from Hobby Lobby & topped it with a turquoise candle holder. Simple, but still cute.
Now for the kitchen [any & every girls favorite part of the whole house]. I am obsessed, & when I say obsessed I truly mean like overly obsessed, with the kitchen table. My roommates dad built it out of an old, antique door. Isn’t it perfect? I told him I am going to have to pay him to make me my own, because I lala-love it. I cannot wait to host a dinner party on this shabby chic piece [really so I can just show it off lol].
Okay so I searched, & searched for the perfect wine rack/bar cart, because I was not willing to pay $200 plus on one. Until I came across this beauty! One day I was by Ross, which I hardly ever go in, but I decided hey why not. And that is exactly where I found this! It was regularly $220 BUT I only paid $65 for it. Is that a steal or what? I knew I couldn’t pass it up when I came across it. I put my crystal decanter & glasses on top of it & added a couple other decorations & it came together perfectly. This is something else I cannot wait to put into use [aka have a wine party, duh].
So the living room is still a work in progress, but it is coming together little by little. These are just a few shots of a couple of the things I am happy with so far! Literally everything you see came from Hobby Lobby [if you can’t tell, a lot of my money goes to that store].
I hope this post helped you with some decorating ideas if you are in the process of wanting to change your home decor up. I also hoped it made you realize you do not have to pay a fortune to make something look like a million bucks [just like styling an outfit]. You can find some of the best finds & bargains at stores like TJ Maxx, Ross & more. And the items you find there will become your new faves, just like my wine rack!
Happy decorating, friends!
xoxo
