I love this quote, because blogging is all about staying true to who you are & writing about what you are passionate about. And that is exactly what I am going to talk about on this post.
One of the most important lessons in life I have learned over the past 21 years, is to stay true to yourself. I have learned this a lot over the past year, through blogging, because it is something I have a passion for & truly love. Over this blogging journey I have realized what hard work & dedication it takes to be successful, but this relates to anything you want to do in life. I have truly given it my all in the mix of school & working, but I believe this has made AMWG more successful.
With blogging comes a little competition [like with anything]… but hey competition is good & only makes you better. This being said, I have came to realize that everyone & their mom [literally] wants to be a blogger. And this makes me a little sad, if I am being honest. I started AMWG because I have a passion for writing & fashion, & I hope to pursue a career in this field. I realize that people are not starting blogs for what I believe to be the right reasons. Now a days, starting a fashion blog is like people wanting to be on the Bachelorette. For fame & to gain some sort of perk out of it. If fashion is not something you have a love for then start a blog with something you have passion for & that makes you excited just thinking about it. Don’t get me wrong, I know we can ALL gain excitement over shopping… but if you do not have a love for sharing this with others & to want to encourage women to dress their best, to feel their best… then what is your reasoning behind it?
I have gained so much more than my readers & followers on all social media. I have gained confidence in having the urge to express my style with others & feel confident in what I am wearing at all times. I have gained professional business skills from working with companies. I have gained social media management skills & how to reach out to my followers in the way they want & like. I have gained appreciation for all the big time bloggers, because it is not all fun & games by taking pictures & dressing cute. I have gained website design skills, because I have learned how to create every single piece of my website, on my own. And most importantly I have learned what it means to be dedicated. Yes, I have had other things I have been dedicated to over my life… but not like blogging. It gives me a drive that I cannot explain.
These are the reasons to start a blog. Not to become “insta famous”, or to only post pictures of 1% of your life. Do it because you LOVE it & truly want to gain something from it. I wrote this post to not only vent [because we all know it feels good to express our thoughts], but to let you know why I blog. Yes, I may just be getting started with only a year under my belt, but hey I do it because I love it. And I plan to continue to do it whether I have one reader or 5,000 readers.
Do what you love & do not let anyone direct you in any other direction.
This is the first post I have truly expressed my opinion on something, but I am not going to apologize for that. I believe what I believe, & will be the first to stand up for that. I appreciate you all for following along with me & adoring clothes with me, because lets be honest what’s better than feeling like a rockstar?
Thanks for listening to me rant. And remember, stay true to you.
xoxo
