Being from the great state that is known for big hair & Tex Mex, means it’s in my blood to love country music. And when I say love, I mean really really love.
Some of you probably wonder where the spelling of my name comes from… which is pronounced just “Jordan” lol (I know, my mom wanted to make it complicated). Anyways, my mom has always been the biggest George Strait fan & she swears that’s where the spelling of my name came from. So yes, naturally I was born to have a love for country music.
I figured it was appropriate to change it up a little & talk about my outlook on country music today, being that the 50th ACM awards are taking place as I am typing this (which I am kicking myself for not being at). Thinking about country music, it has changed so much just from when I could walk, & it makes me so sad. It’s not the Martina McBride, Tim McGraw, & George Strait music from the 90s… it’s slowly transitioning to be more & more pop & it breaks my heart. What has happened to the music that makes you feel warm inside & creates some of the fondest memories? Why is it these artists are slowly fading to be something that’s not what we all know as country? It scares me that 10 years from now country music will have died completely. It makes me question why artists are not sticking to the good, southern music we all know they can produce.
βDon’t get me wrong, I do love some of these artists I would just consider them to be categorized in the pop genre. I do not believe they should be singing on stages like the ACMs where many country legends have performed.
Anyways, that’s enough on my soap box but I just had to get this off my chest. However, I’ll leave you with this question. What’s happened to all the cowboy hats & since when did baseball hats become the new “country” thing?
